For Parents
Thoughts, information materials and professional guidance for parents.
Articles and visual summaries created by MURMO professionals on topics that can help parents better understand children’s emotional functioning, their difficulties, and the processes underlying family situations.
Group-Based Parent Support – How Do We Work Together with Parents?
At MURMO, we believe that supporting children is most effective when parents are supported as well. Alongside individual consultations, we offer small parent groups that combine professional guidance with the supportive strength of a peer community and shared experiences.
We have designed our range of groups to meet the needs of different life situations:
🧠 Mentalization- and Reflection-Focused Groups
These groups help parents gain a deeper understanding of the emotions and intentions underlying their children’s behaviour, while strengthening parental awareness.
MBT-I Psychoeducational Group
3 sessions, 120 minutes per session
We will explore the foundations of mentalization and help parents gain insight into how they can better understand their child’s—and their own—inner emotional states, wishes and motivations in difficult situations.
Reflective Parenting Group
8 sessions, 90 minutes per session
Building on the psychoeducational foundations, the focus here shifts to deeper practical work. Through personal experiences and the exploration of specific everyday situations, we support the integration of reflective parenting into daily life.
🎨 Experiential and Symbol Therapy Groups
For parents who wish to recharge and reflect on their parenting role beyond words, through inner imagery and the power of creative expression.
Preventive Parenting Group
5 sessions, held once a month, 75 minutes per session
An art therapy–based experiential group that supports parents in processing parenting stress, promoting prevention and identifying personal resources through creative expression.
Advanced Parenting Group
5 sessions, held once a month, 75 minutes per session
A group based on symbol therapy methodology, using inner imagery and metaphors to explore parenting identity and gain a deeper understanding of family dynamics.
🎯 Diagnosis-Specific Parent Education Groups
Practical, focused groups that provide concrete guidance and effective strategies for everyday life when a child follows an individual developmental path.
ADHD Parent Education Group
3+1 session
Practical guidance and support for parents of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, with a focus on creating structure and managing emotional outbursts.
ASD Parent Education Group
3+1 session
Targeted support for families raising children with autism spectrum disorder, helping to make everyday communication and mutual understanding easier.
Why should you join?
In these groups, parents can experience that they are not alone with their questions and difficulties. We provide a safe, non-judgemental environment where, alongside professional guidance, participants can draw strength and practical ideas from one another’s experiences.
