It is not a one-time event, but an ongoing process aimed at monitoring the child\u2019s development, adjusting treatment when necessary, and providing continuous support to both the child and their family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is an overview of what a typical child psychiatric follow-up appointment looks like at Murmo:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Frequency and setting:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Frequency:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This varies depending on the child\u2019s condition, the severity of symptoms, their level of stability, and the type of treatment involved. Follow-up appointments may take place weekly, biweekly, monthly, or less frequently (for example, quarterly) if the child\u2019s condition is stable.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Venue:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Follow-up appointments typically take place at a child psychiatry clinic, private practice, or sometimes via telemedicine (video consultations). We prefer in-person appointments, but online sessions can occasionally be arranged as well.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Participants:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>The child\/adolescent:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The primary focus of the follow-up appointment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Parents\/Guardians:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> They play an essential role in providing additional information, discussing concerns, and understanding the treatment plan. Are there any new challenges or improvements?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Medication review (if applicable)<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><b>Effectiveness:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Is the medication helping with the target symptoms?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><b>Side effects:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Are there any new or ongoing side effects? The psychiatrist assesses for thoughts related to self-harm, suicide, or harm to others.
